Hi there,
I have built a report on the desktop version. I connect to Dynamics 365 online for all my queries. Once I have built this report, I can refresh it no problem.
When I then give this report to another user, the refresh always fails. If I sit with the user, open up the query editor & effectively go through each query, I can repair every query and the refresh works.
My question is, can I avoid this? Does the order of the queries matter in terms of execution? I would really love users to be able to reliably use these desktop versions, but it's just not working at the moment!
Hi @jeaninnes
When you say the other users get an error, what error do they receive?
And when you mention that when you sit with them and step through each query it then works, are you using your own login, or their login?
See above as a screen shot of what one of the users receives. The scenario is that I have provided a desktop version file to another user. That user has then opened the file themselves & tried to refresh. So they are using their own log in.
I generally use skype to see what they are doing - so when I say that I'm walking them through it, I am using skype to tell them what steps to take.
From the errors that are coming up, it looks like some of the queries are not loading because of errors with other queries - so hence my question, does it matter what order they are listed in?
Hi @jeaninnes,
Did error persist if users refresh the queries one-by-one manually?
What steps did you take that could resolve the error?
Regards,
Yuliana Gu
No - the errors don't persist if the user does this. But that's exactly my point - I don't want the user to have to go through these steps at all.
Hi @jeaninnes,
Please try to uncheck the 'Parallel Loading of tables' option under File->Options and Settings->Options->Data Load
Best regards,
Yuliana Gu
Thanks for the tip. I will try this and see how we go.
Cheers, Jean
