Hi All,
I have a Power BI model built using Power BI Desktop tool connecting to Oracle Database using Import method.
Is there any way I can push this to SSAS and is there any advantage of pushing this already built model to SSAS ?
I want to avoid re-building the model using SSAS.
Regards,
Akash
Hi @akj2784,
To import an existing Power BI dataset model into SSAS tabular, please follow below blogs:
IMPORT POWER BI DESKTOP MODEL TO SSAS TABULAR 2016
IMPORT POWER BI DESKTOP MODEL TO SSAS TABULAR 2017 USING AZURE ANALYSIS SERVICES
Best regards,
Yuliana Gu
I actually followed the same blog
IMPORT POWER BI DESKTOP MODEL TO SSAS TABULAR 2016
But somehow it doesnt work. Not able to change the connection to Oracle database. It creates different connection for all the tables in the model and even if I change the conection to point to correct db it gives error.

I changed the connection for all the data sources, but when I process the database it gives me error.
Failed to save modifications to the server. Error returned: 'The datasource, '9b9b370b-fb7e-45d3-ba32-947507a05475', contains an ImpersonationMode that is not supported for processing operations.

What do I change in the ImpersonationMode ? In the datasource I updated the user/password to connect to oracle database.
Also it looks like it is not worth the effort. There are many power BI logic which was removed after the import in SSAS. If we append/merge any table in power bi desktop. That got removed in the SSAS after the import.
Table name has to be manually updated for all the tables. Datasource has to be manually updated.
Lets say I had filtered some records in the Edit Queries of Power BI Desktop, this will be removed in SSAS. So your entire logic will be useless and you may end up creating a new model with lots of extra effort and hence does not find it useful.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Akash
