Define returning time slots for time rows to perform specific/comparative calculations

Dear community,

while working on a project, based on databases containing continuous time rows, we have the following cases that we cannot solve:

Given for both cases: a continuous time row with time stamp and data values for every 15 minutes; the data source is a database that refreshes automatically

Time slots per day:

Required: define a specific time slot or several ones for different days and then only perform calculations on the according data or compare it to the data lying out of this frame

Example1: number of customers in a bistro; then only take a closer look on peak hours during lunch time (12.00am-2.00pm)

Example2: phone calls to a hotline; phone calls to that hotline in the evening (5.00-9.00pm)

Time slots changing with seasonality and over-seasonal comparison:

Required: define a time slot that changes with the seasons (4x per year), perform calculations on the data outside and inside this time frame according to the season, but also using data which lies out of the season but in the same year

Case: compare maximum value of the season, that is not in the defined time frame and compare it to maximum value of the whole year

Thanks for your help.

Really difficult to answer this without sample data.

For the first one, you can do this a bunch of different ways. You could create a measure based upon COUNT and either create a slicer based on hour or you could create a new column and use an IF statement to create your "categories" essentially.

For the second one, again, this sounds like a measure or maybe two measures but not nearly enough info to go on.

@ me in replies or I'll lose your thread!!!
