Default the screen to the data of the user who logs in

Hi!

I've created a PBI dashboard where it applies a dynamic RLS hierarchy - the user sees his/her own data and the data of the people within his team hierarchy. I was hoping that upon log in of the user, the page should automatically show his/her own data (i.e. user's name is automatically selected in the filters) then user can just select from the filters if he/she wants to see the data of other people within his team. Currently, upon log in, the default view of the page shows blanks in the visuals and the user still has to select from the filter name so the visuals update. Is there a way to make this work? Thank you in advance!

Hi @MOLIMAR123,

does the report have to be filtered to one person?
Otherwise I would recommend to leave the filter open, so that the team result (All) would then be displayed and the user can then filter on a specific person.
A dynamic preselection is not possible as far as I know.

@mwegener , ideally yes. so whoever logs in will automatically see his/her own data by default but still has the ability to select a name from the filters to see others' data. Is that not possible?

Hi , @MOLIMAR123

Good idea, but powerbi service does not  support this feature currently.

For your needs, you can submit the idea to the idea forum.

If there are enough votes, the Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future..

@MOLIMAR123 , Power BI does not provide conditional filter preselection.

I would imagine that in each measure you check to see if it is filtering on a name and if not, then filter by DAX on the person logged in.
