December 2020 Release has new problem - "Unable to connect"

Starting with the new December 2020 release of PowerBI Desktop - as are all now getting errors for existing reports and even for new reports to AzureAS servers - the errors is "Unable to connect - We encountered an error while trying to connect..."

The bug is in the December 2020 version 2.88.621.0 and is apparently fixed in the version 2.88.702.0. This version works successfully with the Microsoft account authentication.
