I need help building a DAX in a way that calculates the sum of the 2 given rows of FY16-17 and outputs in a single row and also to remove the [1L] and [100 ML] from the row.

Is that all of your data? You could create a new column like:
Material = LEFT([Materials,FIND([Materials],"[") - 1)
Then just put that in your visual and you should get a single row and the sum you want.
