Dax and DAX studio question

Hello

I’m fairly new to DAX and have a two part question

  1. In the following function Dates and Periods are tables. What do they actually bring / do in the function as the 2 filters at the end of Calculate?

CALCULATE (

    COUNTX (

        'Employees',

        IF (

            ‘tblEmployees’[FTE] = "Yes" && ‘tblEmployees’[Curr_Emp] = "Yes",1)),

    USERELATIONSHIP (‘tblEmployees’[Start_Date], Dates[Date_Value] ), Dates, Periods)

  1. How do I run the function in DAX studio? I can use EVALUATE ‘tblEmployees’ to return the entire Employees table, but I can’t seem to figure how to test functions?

Many thanks in advance

Roy

Re: Dax and DAX studio question

You need the row function as I explain at the bottom of this article.

Re: Dax and DAX studio question

Hi @ryand09,

To me, I would test the DAX formula in the Power BI Desktop or in the Excel with a model. That would be clearer.

Maybe this formula won't give you the result you want. Can you share a sample and the expected result?

Best Regards,

Dale
