Dates in chronological order

HI,

I have some difficulties with ordening my dates in chronologic order when i'm making a line graph.

How can that be solved?

Thanks in advance

Hi @Ottmar_W,

You need an auxiliary column in your scenario.

1. Add an index in the Query Editor.

2. In the data view, Sort by Column the index.

Hey!

@jthomsonis probably on the right track. You have to go to the model, add a new column (we'll call that column B), and then sort your date column by 'column B.'

There are several thread in the PBI community concerning this issue. Here is a URL that has really good screenshots illustrating what is probably the solution to your problem:

Hey, @ccakjcrx

Can I sent you my file so you can solve it for me?

Because I really don't have a clue how this tool work.

Thanks in advance

Hey!

Absolutely. Send to ccakjcrx@gmail.com.

I’ll be away from my PC from a while. I can get to it in a few hours.

Hi,

@ccakjcrx

Can it be that your emailadress isn't right, because I can't sent it to you.

My outlook gives me an error message.

Thanks in advance

Can you elaborate? if it's a "months sorting alphabetically" thing then add an index column and have your month name column sort on that, but you're not giving us much to go off

I will show you an exemple of what i'm making.

I really can't order them chronological so what can I do about that?

Thanks

Hi,

Is there a possibility that I sent you my file?

thanks in advance

Hello @Ottmar_W

Is this what you are trying to achieve. Also, you want to do some cleaning on your tables as well as renaming them based on the data they hold.

@edejes2

Yes, my biggest problem is that the dates are not in the correct order. Like you outlined in red.
Thanks

Hi,

Can someone place my months in chronological order for me?

Because I really don't know how to do it myself.

Thanks in advance

Hi @Ottmar_W,

If you can make your file public, you can upload it to a cloud drive like OneDrive, GoogleDrive and share the link here. Or you can send me a private message.

Hi @Ottmar_W,

There is a sort option in the top right ellipses. Click the icon in the head when it's highlighted.
