Date format different on desktop table between Import and Direct Query data

When I load data from an SQL database via Direct Query the date formatting is ie 01/01/2016 in tables and graphs

But wnen I load the same data from the same source via Import the formatting is Year  Quarter Month Day

I would like 01/01/2016 style

Trying change the formatting once loaded at the table level does not fix it.

Ideas?

Hello,

Thanks for the suggestion.

I had tried the date format previously without success but the right click on the Date in the 'Value' field and unchecking the Hierarchy did the trick.

@fredharlan

did you try the below steps?

1. change the datetime format

2. By Default if you drag the date filed then it will display as Date Hierarchy. if you want only the date format, can you Uncheck the Hierarchy option as below

Thanks
