Date Slicer that supports specific dates, but also simple buttons (LastYR, Last365, etc.)

Something like this, where one can select a button for common date ranges, but also input any 2 dates, if they so wish.

I could use a combination of the Defalt Date Slicer, with the default Date Slicer in relative mode.  But that causes 2 issues:

  • The only date displayed, is that which falls under both slicers (in the below example - that'd be 0 dates)
  • The contradcitory date ranges that could be displayed

Relative plus manual.PNG

For comparision, right now I have the (imo) pretty slicer below.  But two issues:

  • No way to select any 2 specific dates
  • Writing measures for it requires an additional step, which I don't really want to force on others

Possibly I could do something using buttons + bookmarks - but my pages already rely on bookmarks quite a bit, so I'm leery of complicating things more.  And again, something I don't like about my 'pretty' slicer above, is that it makes things a bit harder on others, if they want to build something.

Hi @mmace1 ,

You have mentioned all the workaround😄,If dataset is small, I will create some new columns as slicer options. Then use  "Chicklet Slicer".

Best Regards,
Liang

@mmace1 I feel like you nailed it with the buttons + bookmarks approach unless you can find a fancy date slicer in customer visuals.

@Greg_Deckler  Thanks.  The issue with bookmarks + Slicers, is one would have to update the bookmark each time.

i.e. here's a boomark for the last completed month - one would need to update that bookmark on Sept 1st, and that's not scalable.

It could work, if the idea was to have buttons to bookmarks, and a *relative* date slicer, but the goal is to have buttons + a manual date slicer.

This is pretty darn close.  But requires users, when using custom dates, to clear the custom-slicer, before going back to the buttons.
