Date Slicer View changed on Service

 Hi All,

Earlier the Date Slicer used to show like below when no data was present on service .

supriyapandey19_0-1654778560189.png

And now it i showing just blank boxes like below on service.

Whereas in PowerBI desktop it is still showing as earlier in M/D/YYYY format in the boxes.

Please help me resolve this issue or help me get an article which talks about this update.

Hi @supriyapandey19 ,

I don't see this difference at my end.

I see same date visual in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.

Please try using a visual level filter which filter out all the dates and should not have any data and then the background format M/D/YYYY disappears on Service for Date Input boxes.

HI @supriyapandey19 ,

A question out of curiosity.

Why would you have a slicer on you report with no data at all?

We are showing selected date range of 1 week on top using a measure and this view is just to show users that the date range is uneditable to them through slicer.

HI @supriyapandey19 ,

I tested your scenario.

This is the slicer in power BI desktop with visual filter for few data points:

After publishing the updates to PBI Service, I still see date slicer in the right format showing me the visual selection I had set earlier:

There should not be any manual selection on the slicer and there should be a visual level filter which removes all the dates from the slicer and then we need to see the Input boxes. Then, for me in desktop it shows like:

And on service it hows like:

Please try this scenario.

Hi @supriyapandey19 ,

Based on my understanding I have tried at my end.

Please share your pbix file by removing any sensitive information to make the understanding clear.

hi,

I will list down the steps for you:

1. Pull a slicer to report.

2. Add a date field to the slicer.

3. Don't do any manual selections on the slicer.

4. Create a measure as Slicer Hiding=0.

5. Add the visual level filter to the slicer as Slicer Hiding is 1 which will hide all the values from the Slicer.

6. Then it will show the Slicer Input Boxes as non editable and will show M/D/YYYY in the background for both Input boxes in Power BI Desktop.

7. Then when we publish it to Service the M/D/YYYY from the background goes away and shows only blank Input boxes.

Hi @supriyapandey19 ,

Thanks for the description above. This helps a lot.

Yes I see a similar behaviour at my end.

You should raise this with Power BI Support team here if this has changed:
