Date Period Slicer w/ Date Range Selector

Hi everyone,

I have a question that has been bothering me for some time, and having not been able to figure it out I decided to see others approaches. I have a simple start schema, and I join my factdate to my dimdate dimension table. In my date dimension, I have column with either a 0 or 1 for custom measures like Current Week, Current Month, Previous Month etc. So basically any measure I create I can just add a filter where equals 0 or 1. I then create a disconnected table and use SWITCH() to make a measure slicer. Here is my question. Some users don't always want to be forced into a period selection. They want to select a custom date range using the normal date range slicer. Given my screen shot below, how would my DAX look for giving users the ability to select a period from a slicer but also allow them to filter using a date range.

Thanks in advance!

@Anonymous I would add another option in the slicer, Custom Date Range and create another date dimension in the model without any relationship with any of the tables it will be purely used for the slicer.

Once the user selects custom date range option in the slicer, your measure should work to include the date range selected in the slicer. It should be super easy from there.

I would  Kudos if my solution helped. 👉 If you can spend time posting the question, you can also make efforts to give Kudos whoever helped to solve your problem. It is a token of appreciation!
