DataModel decompression

Hi,

I am trying to decompress DataModel file inside a .pbix report. It is written in the header, that the file is compressed using Xpress9 algorithm.  I tried using windows compression API but without any success. Is there any way how to decompress the file?

Thanks for help

Martin

Hi @Anonymous ,

Do you want to extract data from Power BI? You can do it using DAX studio
https://www.sqlbi.com/tools/dax-studio/

this article may be helful as well - it explains how connection to local host is managed

Hello,

thanks for the tip but i also need informations about measures and how the new columns were created. And the only place where it could be stored is DataModel and decompressing it is the only way how to get it.

Thanks for the answer

7-zip can do it from the command-line

add the directory where the 7z.exe lives to your PATH environment variable

change to the directory where you extracted the .pbix file

issue the command:

7z x DataMashup -o".\DataMashupDir\" -aoa

Have you tried this with a PBIX file having a "DataModel" file inside, not a "DataMashup"? 7-zip does not seem to be able to decompress "DataModel" files from PBIX files.
