DataFormat.Error: The supplied file path must be a valid absolute path.

Hi, I am trying to use Power BI Desktop and I am facing a problem when selecting an excel file as a data source. My excel file is on my SharePoint 2013 (on premises environment). I can navigate and select the file with no problem but when it's time to load the data I get the following error: DataFormat.Error: The supplied file path must be a valid absolute path. Details: \\mysharepoint.domain.com@SSL\DavWWWRoot\sites\pvt\Shared Documents\2015Tasks.xlsx Isn't supported to load an excel file from SharePoint???? This works in Excel using PowerQuery (with no data refresh on premises) and it does not work in Excel using PowerPivot. I would have expected this to work using Power BI desktop. Any ideas?

You should be able to source from an excel file in your sharepoint by doing GetData->From Web then pasting the link to your excel file.

I just tried it and it worked.

I think a cleaner way of doing this is to create your query using excel to write the query. Open the advanced editor, and then copy and paste from Excel advanced editor to power BI editor. This has just worked for me and allowed the connection.

I created my query in Excel, then created a query from scratch in Power BI. Opened the advanced editor in both, copy and pasted my excel "Sql" to the Power BI advanced editor and it seems to have worked

These kind of WebDAV UNC paths aren't currently supported. We have an open bug on this and hope to resolve it reasonably soon.

So does it means that it will be soon supported?

I see the same thing, works in Excel, but not Power BI Desktop.
