Data sorted by Month Number but Month Name is still showing in incorrect order in visuals

I have sorted by month number as suggested in many posts, and my data in the edit query tab is showing me the month names in the correct order. However, my visuals have not updated to display the month names in the correct chronilogical order. What am I doing wrong?

Hi @Anonymous ,

Since I don't have your data and files, I will use the following data as an example:

vluwangmsft_0-1628042551626.png

vluwangmsft_1-1627378339631.png

The same error occurs. And if Axis  use monnum ,then it works normally.

If you still want to use the month corresponding to the English language for sorting.Try following steps:

Then create rank table:

mon = FORMAT('rank'[date],"MMMM")

vluwangmsft_2-1627378753748.png

sort by date:

vluwangmsft_3-1627378800447.png

Then create relationship:

vluwangmsft_4-1627378830741.png

Final you will get :

vluwangmsft_5-1627378892184.png

If with 2020 year and 2021 year:

Wish it is helpful for you!

Best Regards

Lucien

Are you using the 'sort by column' feature in powerbi front end rather than just sorting in Power Query? (it's not clear from your post).

Also sometimes visuals have to be rebuilt or at least refreshed to use this feature.

So I actually don't have the sort by feature in the front end - should be located in the Modeling tab.

I have also rebuilt this visual from scratch and still getting it out of order, while my data is sorted by monthnumber still in the edit query view.
