We have a user_dealer table on Oracle DB that contains mapping between user and their dealers on which they can report on .
We are able to let the user to select and filter on them using Power BI .
However they don't want to run it individually rather want to club those dealers into a group for their reporting
So basically they would be doing following stuff.
1.Select individual dealer and group them into a list on power BI screen
2. Give a logical name to that list created above and that gets stored in the underlying oracle DB
3. They edit that group to add and remove any dealer as they need from the Power BI screen.
We are struggling to do data manipulation from user screen on power BI into the oracle database.
Is it possible or anyother approach ?
PS : Customer does not want to use POWER APPS and Power BI embedded. However they have SharePoint in use.
Hi @Anonymous,
AFAIK, current power bi not able ot use data view level fitler/slicers to interact or change the backend query table connections.
They are work on different data levels, the slicer/filter source table is a virtual table generated from the data model table(they are transformed and generated from query tables).
If you mean dynamic change the connected data source, it is possible if they have a similar data structure and connection mode.
You can refer to the following blog to parameterize your connection string with query parameters, then you can change the parameter and update your credentials to switch between different data source who has the same data structures.
Using the Power BI Service Parameters to change connection strings (To possibly change between Dev

It's impossible to change data in a data source via Power BI
