Data Cache size in PowerBI desktop

Hey,

We have a bit of a random setup whereby we use a number of hosted VMs and get assigned onto one of these each day when we login by an automatic load balancer. We use PowerBI a lot (desktop) across multiple users. We're finding the VMs keep running out of disk space as different users are building up a PowerBI cache across the 5 vms we use, the problem is, they can't clear the cache as they might not be logged into that machine that day - so you tend to get impacted by other users previous caches on that particular VM.

The cache is set to 4gb - can we control this as part of group policy? (as reducing to ~200mb per user would remove ths problem) or do we have any other options you guys can think of to control this. The VMs have about 100gb hard drives, but we have around 50 users across these machines so tend to build the cache's pretty quickly.

We're getting into positions where we run out of space and lose a few hours while our IT teams manually login to the VMs and delete the cache from the users local app data folders.

Any ideas?

Hi  @MrShanktastic ,

I also not found effective suggestion to reduce data cache issues, maybe you can submit an idea for add option about 'auto clear up cache data every time your close power bi desktop'.

In addition, you can also try to write a batch script to trace power bi desktop status and clean up cache folder files.
