Dashboard Suggestions - Dashboard Administration View in Power BI.

I currently administrator Power BI for a user group of about 300 people.  I am looking to use Power BI and create a view that can show me who has access to specific dashboards, and where there may be disparity since not all users will have access to all dashboards.

I am struggling creating a data set that will list each dashboard by name, and who has access to it.  In other words I want to use a slicer to select a named user, and visually see which dashboards they have access to.  (Even if it is a matrix view.)

Looking for suggestions on the dataset layout (how the columns and rows should be laid out), and the appropriate view and slicer.

I suspect that I would maintain this using a .csv or xlsx document that is periodiocally updated and refreshed in Power BI.

Look forward to see if anyone has a creative suggestion.

Thank you.

Hi irnm8dn. I administrate a power bi too. The best way I found out, is to create a report and dashboard with power bi audit logs csv files. In this data you can check who, when and where have an operation. You can find more information in here:

https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-admin-auditing/

Sadly, you need to download it every time you want an update.

Another way to check this is on administration portal with usage metrics.

Thank you.  I just started this process, which is great for tracking usage.

My particular need is making sure I can see who is permitted to access which dashboards.  It'll help me ifentify gaps where people "should" have access, and ensure that people are restricted from other views.

Any suggestions given these needs?

I think there would be a lot of ways and visualizations to accomplish this like you want. In my case i love to check this with Network Navigator Chart. I add the dashboards and reports for one side and people from another so you can check the relations between them.

Appreciate the follow up.

Again, I am looking for simple matrix view and slicer that can allow me to select a user's name, and see what dashboards they have access to.

Trying to get my arms around the layout of the dataset.

Any suggestions for something like this?  Needs to be functional more than fancy.

Allright, with the data off the audit log you can just activate the matrix preview in preview features under options of power bi desktop. There you will be able to make the best on showing the data in tabular way.
