I want to use that column value as the operator in an if statement

Hi @AZvick ,
Based on your description, I have created a simple sample:
Please try:
trend =
SWITCH(TRUE(),
[direction]=">="&&[column A]>=[column b],"Positive",
[direction]="<="&&[column A]<=[column b],"Positive",
[direction]=">"&&[column A]>[column b],"Positive",
[direction]="<"&&[column A]<[column b],"Positive",
[direction]="="&&[column A]=[column b],"Positive",
"Negative")
Final output:
Best Regards,
Jianbo Li
