DAX-Expression showing different results

(MONTH(ZCA_GeneralLedger_Optimized[Posting Date])< MONTH(TODAY())||
(MONTH(ZCA_GeneralLedger_Optimized[Posting Date]) =MONTH(TODAY())

what is difference between two DAX expressions .. As it gives two different results in above and below expressions

(MONTH(ZCA_GeneralLedger_Optimized[Posting Date]) <=MONTH(TODAY())

Sample data please. I get the same results when I have data like:

Date

12/31/2017

1/1/2018

1/1/2017

1/4/2018

And calcuations like:

Column = MONTH([Date]) < MONTH(TODAY()) || MONTH([Date]) = MONTH(TODAY())

Column 2 = MONTH([Date]) <= MONTH(TODAY())

Both return:

False

True

True

True
