I have a table with a NAME column that I want to know what rows in that table begin with either _ or -. An Example
NAME CONTAINS
-----------------------
HELLO FALSE
_Hello TRUE
BYE FALSE
-BYE FALSE
I have been trying to use a calculated column but I can't seem to get it to apply to each individual row.
Thanks in advance!
Michael

Hi, with Query Editor
Or With DAX a Calculated Column:
Column = IF(LEFT(Table1[NAME];1) IN {"-"; "_"};"TRUE";"FALSE")

In M you can use: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerquery-m/text-startswith
In DAX if you need only one character then
CONTAINS = if(left([Name],1) in {"-","_"},"TRUE","FALSE")
