Customize Custom Visual: Is possible?

Hello,

I want to customize the Gantt Chart custom visual from Microsoft. Is this possible?

Scenario:

Business wants the ability to show COUNTS out of total, rather than DATES on a schedule

Example:

  • Rather than DATE being the X axis below, I need a total COUNT of each row
  • Row 1: (Always the "longest")
    • Start: 5.2
    • End: 12.2
    • Duration: 7
  • Row 2:
    • Start: 5.3
    • End: 5.7
    • Duration: .4
  • Row N (same scenario)

Instead of DATE, how can I designate a COUNT of units using the Gantt Chart (or ANY other means?)

Thank you!

You can fork and customize Gantt's source code as you want: https://github.com/Microsoft/PowerBI-visuals-gantt

Hi @v-viig ,

Thank you very much for this info.

Do you have insights on how I might change the DATE axis to a COUNT in the Gantt custom vis? I'm not a developer by trade, but can figure things out decently.

You need to change scale type from Date to Linear. Probably this feature will require some other changes.

We can add it to our backlog if it's required.
