Currency code not found from xe.com connection

Hi,

I have an xe.com connection ( https://www.xe.com/currencytables/?from=GBP ) established a few months ago and I already built some measures on it using the rate of the currency exchange. All of a sudden, this error comes up and the 'Currency Code' column seems nowhere to be found from the source:

When I try to reestablish the web connection using the link above (https://www.xe.com/currencytables/?from=GBP which worked in the past), this shows up :

My question is:

1. How can I fix it? Does this happen because xe.com might have changed the names of the table columns or simply restricted its access to users?

2. How can I find all calculations I created using 'Currency code' (which doen't load anymore) in my fields so that I delete them because now my whole report doesn't refresh anymore and I am stuck.

Thank you very much !

Hi @oanam ,

If what you need is the Live Currency Rates table, I don’t think you need to update the date. As shown in the figure below, when you refresh the report, it will display the latest data.

If you need Table1, then you can refer to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/desktop-dynamic-m-query-parameters  to create dynamic M query parameters.

If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information or the expected result you expect. Let me know immediately, looking forward to your reply.

Hi @oanam ,

You can follow @selimovd  reply, use the link https://www.xe.com/currencytables/?from=GBP&date=2021-04-12#table-section to connect to the website. Then you can use the rate of the currency exchange.

Thank you very much! Yes, I get the same tables you attached when I place the date in the web source link. Does this mean that I must change the date in the web source connector everytime I want the rate updated?

Hey @oanam ,

for me it looks like the website changed.

I guess you have to add the date:

https://www.xe.com/currencytables/?from=GBP&date=2021-04-12#table-section

But they also offer an API, so you might consider that:

Currency Converter API & Exchange Rate API | XE

If you need any help please let me know.
If I answered your question I would be happy if you could mark my post as a solution ✔️ and give it a thumbs up 👍

Thank you, adding the date works. It used to connect to the source without a date and so whenever I was refreshing the report in PowerBi, the exchange rate on the day would automatically feed in. Is this not the case anymore?

I guess that the APIs mentioned don't come for free, is it?

Hey @oanam ,

I don't know the website, so check there.

Otherwise you have to create the date dynamically in M and then use it for the URL.

If you need any help please let me know.
