Cumulative per day grouped by month

I capture "widgets" by day rather than a sum of them depending on what slice I use (could be monthly or quarterly or yearly for example).   How can I show a bar chart (see below) with average widgets per day?

Not sure if I've got your idea 100%, however you could try to use the DATE istead of DATE Hierarchy.
