Creating a flexible user experience by combining column values and measures + slicer

Dear Community,

I have two columns in my dataset (Actual, Planning). Based on this I create measures (YTD, RR). All these have monthly values, so I have a date column in their as well.

Now I want to create a report, in which the end-user can use a slicer in order to change the visualization based on the month combined with either the column data or one of the measures. E.g. 2020-03-Actual and 2020-01-Planning or 2019-12-YTD and 2019-09-Planning:

My problem is, I don't know how to create such a slicer. I tried SWITCH, so that I can choose from either of the columns or measures, however that wasn't directly connected with the date. I used then the date as an additional slicer, however that is not enough, because multiple values would appear for the chosen dates. And also I can only choose one value from my SWITCH table, but I need to compare between the different values.

Hi, @I_LOVE_POWER_BI

It’s my pleasure to answer for you.

According to your description, You can create two 'type' columns for slicer and a new table for the second date slicer.

Then, create two measures that control the slicer and one measure that display the results.

If it doesn’t solve your problem, please feel free to ask me.

In such scenarios it is usually recommended to use disconnected date tables that feed the slicer.
