Hello,
I have a requirement to create sections in my report using Power BI Desktop optimized for Power BI Report Server similar to the functionality available in Business Objects Webi. I have searched the Power BI community and could not find a solution. Is this functionality available in Power BI Desktop? I'm currently using the March 2018 version of Power BI Desktop. In addition, my report pulls data from SQL Server Analysis Services database.
I need something like below in my report. All data is dynamic.
Active
LastName | FirstName
Doe John
InActive
LastName | FirstName
Hook James

You can have visual level filters for each of "Table" visual. Then you can see output as below:

Hi @micheledubose,
I'm still a little confused about your requirement.
What do you want to do? Do you have problems with getting data or creating reports with ssas data?
Do you want to have a live connection with SQL Server Analysis Services in Power BI Desktop?
If you need help for creating reports, please share some data sample and your desired output so that we could help further on it.
Best Regards,
Cherry
Hi v-piga-msft,
Sorry for the confusion. I have created a report by getting data from SSAS. That is not the problem. My problem is in my report, I do not know how to break or section my data. I'm using the Table Visualizations so my report looks like this currently:
Service Name | LastName | FirstName
Active Doe John
Inactive Hook James
Active Kent Clark
Inactive Pan Peter
I want the report to look like this:
Active
LastName | FirstName
Doe John
Kent Clark
Inactive
LastName | FirstName
Hook James
Pan Peter
So basically, the report is sectioned by Service Name which is Active or Inactive and the corresponding values (LastName, FirstName) for that Service Name is listed below the Service Name.
Hi,
I am also facing the same Issue can you help me with that if you have the answer for that.
Thanks,
Akshay

I am fairly new to Power BI Desktop. While using Visual level filters, I do not get the desired output. If I select Service Name under Filters and select Active and Inactive, it does not break the data into sections. Would you be able to show me an example of how to use the Visual level filters?
He's probably suggesting creating two sections, one for Active and one for Inactive...
