Create a measure to compare current QTD to last year same time QTD

I need help with creating a measure to compare current Quarter to date to last years Quarter to date. For eg if we are looking at Q3 CY 2018 on Sept 1st we shipped 100 items till now since start of Quarter, what was our position on Sept 1st last year in the quarter.

You can use SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR function to resolve this.
