Count or Sum Up certain rows in a column

section.PNG Hi, I would like to make a DAX formula or something that will help me count or sum up everytime a new projec gets added to each of these sections. Everything is under one column when the data is imported so if I count all of column 1 if takes iinto consideration all the extra stuff when I only need to count the yellow stuff and every time one get added to that section

Hi @Anonymous

First we need to define each section.

Let to say you have three sections in this column--"Power","O&G",'Tanks",

Open Edit queries,

Add a conditional column

3.png

Fill down for "Custom" column

4.png

Close&&apply

Create a measure

Measure = CALCULATE(DISTINCTCOUNT(Sheet2[column1]),FILTER(ALLEXCEPT(Sheet2,Sheet2[Custom]),[column1]<>BLANK()))-1

Best Regards
Maggie
