Constantly waiting for "Apply query changes"...

Each time I make the slightest change in PBI Desktop's "Edit Queries" section and hit close and apply, I am left waiting almost up to an hour for the changes to take effect.

This is what I am looking at for most of the day:

Is there any way to circumvent this?

Does one get around this by storing the data in a local SQL server or something?

Re: Constantly waiting for "Apply query changes"...

Hi @BeeEyeNoob,

In Power BI desktop, we need to apply the required query change to load to data model. In your scenario, please go to File-> Options -> Data load, check if you have enable the option "Parallel loading of tables".  Enable this feature will reduce time when loading multiple tables.

Also please try to run the latest desktop version: 2.50.4859.502 64-bit (September 2017).

Re: Constantly waiting for "Apply query changes"...

The issue described by the original poster is still an issue in the following version:  2.71.5523.941 64-bit (July 2019)

My settings:

1) Import mode

2) SQL Server 2016 data sources

3) Queries that retrieve millions of records

Note: the proposed "parralel loading" feature does not resolve the latency issue.
