Connection to files in Power BI

Hello,

 

I would like to ask how to reach file system data. I have vpn server drive //IP address. How make connection in Power BI? Also I found that files are in .dat type, KO1 and other file formats.

Hi @Analitika ,

You can use on-premisese gateway to access file on VPN or onpremises file server. Regarding dat file, they can be read in notepad so shouldn't be an issue in reading them.

Assuming the VPN connection is already established you can use the file connector or folder connector (preferred) to get the file contents. Then it is up to you what to do with it. Power Query may not understand what a KO1 file is, for example.
