Connecting to a csv file / folder on remote machine

Hi there,

Is this possible? If I have the VPN on and I am logged into the remote machine, is it possible for powerbi to get data from the remote machine? How would this work with a csv file on my remote desktop for example

Thanks

Use the bellow code

let
Source = Excel.Workbook(File.Contents("\\<computer-name>\<folder-path>\<filename>.xlsx"), null, true),
Sheet1_Sheet = Source{[Item="Sheet1",Kind="Sheet"]}[Data],
#"Promoted Headers" = Table.PromoteHeaders(Sheet1_Sheet, [PromoteAllScalars=true])
in
#"Promoted Headers"

And when you provide the drive E: don use the :

Example

\\99.999.999\E\Users\userID\Desktop\filename.xlsx

Try to open the link and check if you can access the folder from your pc before importing it to power bi

Hello,

You should provide the full path of the csv file

another thing that you can do is to share the file and use the share path into power bi

ex: \\Myfiles\file.csv

Hello, and thank you for the message.
I was trying something along these lines unsuccessfully...  Remote machine IP and then the path...

= Excel.Workbook(File.Contents("99.999.999\E:\Users\userID\Desktop\filename.xlsx"), null, true)
