Connecting to Essbase off-premises

Hello! Could use help finding a way to connect Power BI to Essbase when it's off-premises. Read the DBAKevlar article suggested in another post and currently doing the data extract but the data needs considerable transformation in this format. According to the article, an ODBC Driver is not a great option either. How would one go about doing API or another way of connecting directly?
