Composite Model Different Source Slow

Hi,

I have a composite model from a number of SQL databases.

I have a fact table (direct query) and an aggregated fact table (import) from one database.

I have a calendar table (dual mode) from another database.

I'm finding the queries are very slow when drilling down by the calendar table (with measures from the fact table). Is this because of the different data sources?

Regards

Mike

Hi @Anonymous,

Did you write complex measures in your scenario? You can use DAX Studio to run traces against your measures in your data model to find the issue

https://daxstudio.codeplex.com/

See this blog as a start point of how to use this feature

http://sqlblog.com/blogs/marco_russo/archive/2016/11/01/new-server-timings-features-in-dax-studio-2-...

Quite often slow queries often relate to poorly written measures (I used to struggle with this a lot when I first started using Power BI).

Use this tool to investigate what measure is causing you issues and maybe post that query on here if you can't work out how to make the query more efficient after some googling.
