Compare current quarter against previous quarter in the same year

How do i calculate the difference between current quarter and previous quarter in the same year?

Credit to v-sihou-msft though I can't find the thread right now:

1. Create an Index column using Edit Queries, Add column, Index column from 1.

2. Create a calculated column using:

Price difference to the row above = Dates[Price]-IF(Dates[Index]=0;Dates[Price];LOOKUPVALUE(Dates[Price];Dates[Index];Dates[Index]-1))

i am trying to do this in powerpivot and do not know how to create an index column... not sure what it means by "Add column, Index column from 1.".
