Compare Montly Data (x axis) for different years (y axis)

Hello,

Sorry if this is a basic question.

As the thread title suggests, I am trying to compare $$$ of sales per month per year.

I have two main columns. 1) Date Data (dd/mm/yyyy) 2) $$$ (number)

I am trying to create a chart with two lines (one line for 2017 one for 2018).

So i want to have the years on the y axis and the months on the x axis.

Any suggestions on how to do that?

Thank you very much in advance.

You may be misunderstanding how line charts work - the y-axis should be the $$$ for the given month.

You will want to put month (or month name) on the x axis, $ on y (values) and year as the Legend
