Combine similar row values in charts

I have a spreadsheet listing all of our servers.  The OS field has different names for the same version family.  For example,

Microsoft Windows Server 2012 (32-bit)

Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Standard (32-bit)

Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Standard (64-bit)

When creating a donut or stacked bar chart, can I combine those into just "Microsoft Windows Server 2012" to help limit the number of possible items?  I don't want to change the data because I do need that detail in other reports, I just want combine them in a few charts to clean up how it is displayed.

Just a thought, could you create a new conditional column in your dataset, something like

if value contains 'Server 2012' then 'Microsoft Windows Server 2012'

if value contains xxx yyyyy then  xxx

etc

You could use this new column as a hierarchy in your report.  It might be a bit manual as you would need to set up each grouping.  Hope this helps.
