I have run out of rows in my excel file.
I started a new excel file with the same table but with new data.
I need data from both these files in my data model.
How can I do that?
Thanks,
Vishesh Jain

Hello Vishesh,
I've created an example that you can download from my onedrive.
You will find images with the steps (1 to 4), a folder with both excel files, and the pbix file 😄
If you experience any more dificulties, please tell.
Regards,
Salvador.
Hello Visesh,
In order to select a folder as data source, follow these steps. By doing that, if every excel in that folder has the same structure, you wouldnt need to use append 😄
Hello Salvador,
First of all thank you for your resoponse.
I tried using your method and for some reason it is not working, maybe I am not doing the write thing.
I am trying to combine data from these 2 files into a single table.
For some reason, I am unable to attach my excel files in here, so I am pasting the content here.
This is my first file named Book1.xlsx
Customer | Sales | Quantity | Unit Price | Unit Cost | Product |
A | 1 | 2 | 0.5 | 0.2 | Audio |
A | 2 | 4 | 0.5 | 0.2 | Video |
A | 3 | 6 | 0.5 | 0.2 | Camera |
A | 4 | 5 | 0.8 | 0.2 | Video |
B | 5 | 5 | 1 | 0.5 | Audio |
B | 6 | 3 | 2 | 1 | Camera |
B | 7 | 7 | 1 | 0.5 | Audio |
B | 8 | 4 | 2 | 1 | Audio |
B | 8 | 4 | 2 | 1 | Camera |
This is my second file named Book2.xlsx
Customer | Sales | Quantity | Unit Price | Unit Cost | Product |
A | 9 | 3 | 3 | 0.2 | Audio |
A | 10 | 5 | 2 | 0.2 | Video |
A | 10 | 2 | 5 | 0.2 | Camera |
A | 12 | 6 | 2 | 0.2 | Video |
B | 14 | 7 | 2 | 0.5 | Audio |
B | 14 | 7 | 2 | 1 | Camera |
B | 15 | 5 | 3 | 0.5 | Audio |
B | 16 | 4 | 4 | 1 | Audio |
B | 18 | 9 | 2 | 1 | Camera |
A | 20 | 5 | 4 | 2 | Audio |
I am tryingt to combine data from these 2 files into a single file, but the steps you suggested in order to AVOID append queries, isn't working.
It would be great if you could please help me out with this.
Thank you,
Vishesh Jain

Hi @Salvador,
I was wondering if you can also share these steps to me? I tried accessing the folder but the file is no longer available.
Thank YOU!
Hey Salvador,
Thanks for the pictures. It worked.
Vishesh Jain.
Use a Folder query and put both files in the same folder.
Alternatively, you could use an Append query.
Hi smoupre,
Thanks for replying.
I did use Append queries and it did the work I wanted to do.
However, I still don't know how to use Folder query, so if you could please explain that.
Thank you,
Vishesh Jain
