I have 2 tables: Master and Logs.
I'm making a report with a matrix where I use data from both tables so I need to have a relationship between them.
I have a long string that I'm using as unique IDs to join both tables, but when I try to set the relationship, I receive the error "A circular dependency was detected". Now, I understand this error is because to get the ID in Logs, I make a LOOKUPVALUE search in Master.
I really need to make a search in Master in order to define the ID for Logs, is the only way I can get the correct ID.
Let me know what other information you need.
@nanci how you are getting the id in log table? Not sure why you can set relationship based on the common field between these tables.

Hi @nanci ,
Here is a good refresher on circular dependencies: https://www.sqlbi.com/articles/avoiding-circular-dependency-errors-in-dax/
If you still need help, please share a dummy pbix file which can reproduce the scenario, so that we can help further investigate on it? You can upload it to OneDrive and post the link here. Do mask sensitive data before uploading.
