Check data in upload before adding to tables

I would like to allow users to upload sales data, but before adding the sales data to the sales table, I want the system to do a calculation for the user to approve before adding data to the sales table. Is this a thing?

Requested ability . . .

User uploads a spreadsheet and fills a couple of form fields

The system takes the spreadsheet and maps it to the standard then returns to the user a check calculation.

Once the user verifies the check calculation the user can submit the data to Power BI.

Only after this check is the data added to the sales table to be used in reports.

Thanks for the help and hints on how you would solve this request.

Cheers!

Hi @dkovacs ,

Could you please provide more detail about "user adding data to the sales table" ? Do you mean that user add data in data source and refresh data, or they connect a new table in power query editor?

Hey @dkovacs ,

Nothing comes to mind as far as verifying data on the Power BI side. However, it sounds like you are using Excel spreadsheets with forms and macros to format the sales data sheets, is this correct?

If that's the case, I would recommend adding a macro to that sheet to ask the user if the data makes sense. Once it's verified, you can upload it to Power BI. I'm not sure how you're set up, so sorry I can't be of more help, but hopefully this gets you on the right track!
