Centralized DAX query

Hello Team,

We have one requirement, Our client has more than 15 reports and each report has same DAX queries.

if there is any change in Dax queries then we need to do this change for all reports.

Is there any way to write centralized DAX query so that we will do change in 1 Dax query and it will reflect in all reports?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

LK

Hi lkalkote,

You can merge 4 reports into 1 report which contains 5 pages.(Load all data sources into one report in import mode)

In the first page, you can create the same visual with same Measure in the 4 reports.

And in other 4 pages, you can create others different visuals.

Do you mean queries or DAX calculations? I guess it doesn't really matter since I am not aware of a way to centralize either. Generally though situations that you are referring to are handled with RLS but tough to say if that is an option without more information.

I meant to say Measures.

Let's take one scenario, I have a 4 reports r1,r2,r3,r4.

I have one DAX calculation (Measures) lets say SumOfProductPrice.

In my all 4 reports, This Measure SumOfProductPrice will use.

Currently, I am creating 4 Same DAX calculations for each report.

Let's say if requirement change and  Then I need to change all measures manually.

To avoid this, I wanted centralized measures so that I will create one measure and all 4 report can use this measure.

Well, the issue comes down to why you have 4 separate PBIX files. If the issue is you only want some people to see one thing and others to see other things, then the way to handle that is Row Level Security (RLS).
