Can we publish a pbix file from PBI Desktop straight to a PBI Group Workspace?

It appears that we can only publish to our personal workspace in  PBI from Desktop.  Thanks.

Yes you can.

You need to be a member(possibly Admin, I cannot verify at the moment) of the group. Then when you publish, you are asked to which workspace you want to publish (workspace names will apear in the screen below, under "My Workspace"):

I don't think currently it is possible to publish to any other workspace than your own.
