Can user have Global access for a page and restricted access in the rest of the pages in a report ??

Hi All,

I am looking to know if we can implement a report in Power BI in such a way that one of the pages will have global access to users and rest of the pages needs to be restricted based on the user access profile like Division1 in Country1(Dynamic RLS). I have already created role to meet the Dynamic RLS but now I wanted to know if we can make one page global and remaining pages as user specific access in a single report.

Can we create roles to fulfil such requirement

Thanks in advance.

Vani

Hi, @Anonymous

To restrict the data someone can access, we need apply Row-Level-Security on the dataset of the report. However, row level security in Power BI is all about the dataset. It means security is at the dataset level but not at the page or visual level. Therefore, we can't directly set one person has access to one page and another person has access to another page.

This is a workaround you can try. You can use copying visuals and shared datasets. With the same dataset and visual, you can get multiple reports and share them with different users. For more details , you can refer this article  Share Different Visual Pages with Different Security Groups in Power BI and there is a workaround.
