Can't use percent formatted measure as value in a visualization?

I have a measure that works perfectly fine, including as value in visualizations, but when I put its contents through format(<contents>,"percent") the visualization won't accept it. Is there a way to fix this?

You could just go to the modelling tab and make the measure a percentage by default
