Can't install custom visuals

I'm using Power BI Desktop Version: 2.53.4954.481 64-BIT (december 2017) I can't install custom visuals. Neither by "Import from store" nor by "Import from file". Both throws an error message

If I select "Import from store" and click "Add" to install any custom visual I get this error:

If i go to AppSource and download any custom visual and then try to install it in Power BI by selecting "Import from file" I get this error:

I ended up fixing it myself. I tried double clicking the custom visual file and choosing Power BI Desktop as the program to open the file. When I did that I got an error message saying something like "Could not load file or assembly System.IO.Compression". By doing a google search for that error I found a page suggesting to uninstall .Net Framework 4.6.1 and installing 4.6.2 instead. I tried it and the problem was gone.

Hi, check the solution of uninstall .Net Framework 4.6.1 and installing 4.6.2. It seems not to be the issue, my register is 461310 - so later than Framework 4.7...

Any other suggestion ?

Hi @tlemth,

As the issue is related to the machine specific, it's hard to troubleshoot the issue on forum side. I would suggest you create a support ticket to let Microsoft engineer look into your environment.

Hi @tlemth,

The issue seems related to the specific machine. Please check if the machine meet these minimum requirements:

1. Works on other machines.

2. It fails regardless of the account

3. Disabled anti virus. Still doesn't work

4. No luck. And as you can see in my description that is exactly the version I'm already using

Hi @tlemth,

1. Check if the issue related to your machine. Please install the same desktop version in another machine then import custom visuals again.

2. Check if the issue related to your Power BI account. Please let your workmate import the same custom visual with his account signed in the desktop.

3. Please check if any anti-virus block this.

4. Please download the latest 12/14/2017 (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=45331) installer file repair the desktop.

Best Regards,
