Can't determine relationship between fields

Hi,

I'm having an issue with my relationships between tables and curious if someone knows how to deal with this issue.

Below is a screenshot of my 4 tables.

relationship db tables.PNG

I believe this is a classic one - to - many tables that should work, however when i try to put column from table 1,2 and 3 the tables breaks and tells me it can't determine the realtionships between the field. It works fine when i combine table 2,3 and 4, but there seems to be an issue connecting table 1 with 3 and 4.

Appreciate any help.

Thank you

@Anonymous it is because Table 1 is on many side of the relationship and it cannot filter Table 2 (which is on one side). On relationship, change cross filter direction to both and it should work.

Would appreciate Kudos 🙂 if my solution helped.

PS - It is not recommended to cross filter direction to both as it can have performance impact.

You might need to change aggregation or add a measure.

Tough to be 100% certain, but it sounds like you are describing a multiple pathway issue where you end up with multiple filter paths between 2 tables. You can go ahead and create an inactive relationship and use USERELATIONSHIP within DAX to pick the inactive relationship.
