Hi,
I would like to know if report measure can be created in Power BI Live connection mode while connecting to SSAS multidimentional cube? For me its disabled and I cann't create it.
Have watched some videos where new report measures are supported by SSAS tabular model in Power BI live connection. I am connecting "SQL Server Analysis Services Database" through "connect live" option.
Is there a way to create new measure in live connection with multidimentional cube ?
I am using letest Version: 2.96.1061.0 64-bit (August 2021)
Thanks,
Monalisa

Hi @Anonymous ,
Did you connect to SSAS Multidimensional Models in connect live mode now ? Currently, only Tabular model supports to create report level measures in Power BI Desktop. For multidimensional cubes, you can't create any measures or calculated columns. You can see:

It is a place for customers provide feedback about Microsoft Office products . What’s more, if a feedback is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future.
We also submitted this feedback to the product group internally, so that the product group can pay attention to this problem and speed up the issue repairing.

Hello,
I have noticed this article on the Microsoft community and I just wanted to confirm that if you are using a multidimensional database you are unable to create your own measures in Power BI for reports? By the sounds of what I have read, you are only able to do this if you are connecting to the live tabular database.
Is anyone able to confirm this for me?
Thanks
Phillip

@Anonymous No, you cannot create a measure if you have a Live connection with SSAS MD. It is not supported.
