Can Power BI run on top of a 10 Terabyte DB?

I am looking in to Power BI, and have been playing around for a few hours. Really like it.

However I am concerned that what I need it for, is maybe not the best fit for Power BI. Can someone confirm this?

I have an on premise database of at least 10 terabyte, would that be suitable to use Power BI to create reports etc. with this amount of data?

For access on onprem data you need a gateway. When you access this database with Direct Query, it should be no problem at all, since the data is not loaded into the cloud.
