Can I add data (new row) to a Custom-Created Table?

I am just learning Power Bi and had a question that, I hope, is not completely naive. I added a custom table (clicked 'Enter Data' and copy/pasted from an Excel sheet as I didn't want to perpetually keep a link to the sheet. It was a 'master list' of SKU's to products. (We're in the process of cleaning up data from several different data sources and I wanted to keep this as my source of truth).

The problem is I forgot to include a SKU. Is there any possible way to 'add a row' to a table that I custom-created without having to re-create a new table with the SKU, delete the old and recreate connections - or without having to create a table with one row and merge it? (which, I believe, retains a copy of that one-row table)?

Thank you SO much!
Rob

Hi @Anonymous

If you click on Transform Data and go to Power Query, you should be able to click the "Enter Data" button on the "Home" tab of the Ribbon.

Once you do that, it will create a new table. Just add the matching details and then Append the two tables together in Power Query.

Hope this helps 🙂

In the Applied Steps pane on the right, click the gear icon on the first step.

This opens back up the Enter Data grid you pasted data into.

If you don't see this pane on the right of the query editor window, then you need to enable it under the View tab of the ribbon:

new user here, so apologies: how do I get to the Applied Steps pane to do this? I can't find it.

Theo,

Thank you. I got that to work - however, follow-up question. Must I keep the newly created table or may I remove that? I see that the Editor leaves a step in there called "Appended Query" which, I assume if I delete the table with the 1 row - it will mess that up? (Trying to refrain from having tables with no use...

Thanks SO much for the quick reply!

Rob

@Anonymous in my version, you'd Append and it would form one table (not as New).  However, I just saw @AlexisOlson reply and it is far simpler.  Although both resolve, his is by far the most appropriate and efficient way of solving your issue.
