Calculate total sales for certain type of customers

Hi,

I'm totally new to Power BI. I know how to load data into it and how to manage relationships between tables, but that's about it.

I have one fact table which has all sales events, including price and customer id. Then I have a dimension table for customers, which has information including the number of children in the household.

I would need to figure out, based on the data, what was the total amount of sales for customers with 4 or 5 children, in 2013.

How would I go about doing this? I'm totally lost.

Hi @Anonymous

I make a simple example

create realtionships as below

3.png

create measures in "fact table"

Measure =
IF (
    MAX ( [year] ) = 2013
        && (
            MAX ( 'dimension table'[the number of children] ) = 4
                || MAX ( 'dimension table'[the number of children] ) = 5
        ),
    1,
    0
)

Measure 2 = CALCULATE(SUM('fact table'[price]),FILTER(ALL('fact table'),[Measure]=1))

Best Regards

Maggie
