Calculate Sales of previous year based on current date

Hello experts,

I have created a table in BI Desktop named CalendarBasedOnData.

marial16_0-1669911906094.png

I have created a measure on my master table where i sum SalesAmount named TotalAmount.

I have created a second measure

Previous_year_sales = CALCULATE([TotalAmount], PARALLELPERIOD(CalendarBasedOnData[Date],-1,YEAR)).

I also tried the function SamePeriodLastYear.

The values i am getting are wrong. I am getting the Total of all previous years instead of only 2021.

Hi @marial16 ,

You can update the formula of measure [Previous_year_sales] as below and check if you can return the correct result...

Previous_year_sales =
VAR _seldate =
    SELECTEDVALUE ( CalendarBasedOnData[Date] )
RETURN
    SUMX (
        FILTER (
            ALLSELECTED ( 'yourfacttable' ),
            YEAR ( 'yourfacttable'[Date] )
                = YEAR ( _seldate ) - 1
        ),
        [TotalAmount]
    )

If the above one can't help you get the desired result, please provide some sample data in your tables (exclude sensitive data) with Text format and your expected result with backend logic and special examples. It is better if you can share a simplified pbix file. You can refer the following link to upload the file to the community. Thank you.
